The Ministry of Health is continuing to look at ways to effectively manage and control Diabetes in an effort to reduce the number of amputations.

 

With this in mind, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is said to be the first country to introduce Heberprot-P, which is a drug used for the treatment of Foot Ulcers.

Cuban Medical Practitioner, Dr. Eberto Carrazana. specializes in the application of the drug here.

Speaking through an interpreter, Dr. Carrazana said that the drug which was developed by Cuban Scientists can accelerate healing of deep and complex ulcers.

Dr. Carrazana said Heberprot-P has the capacity to reduce amputations in eighty percent of patients, and he is calling on the patients for their support.
